In the Heart of the Beast has been around since 1973. It is a puppet and mask theatre which runs main stage performances as well as Saturday matinees for children. They also put on the massive May Day Parade and celebration which is seriously a pride and joy of Minneapolis. HOBT is deeply rooted in the community, sending positive social messages and a rich arts experience to all ages. check them out here.

while our days at the foundation might be over, we still have the memories. click here to see the amazing photos that house photographer shari shoot - there may be some of you and your family!

holy macaroni, can't believe we didn't tell you about kiddywampus sooner (can't believe you guys didn't tell us sooner!). this is the coolest kids store we've ever walked into, it's completely interactive and your kids can play with every thing in the store! and there's more - their jackson pollack art classes (where kids can throw paint on walls!) and fabulous birthday parties make kiddywampus our pick of the month. learn more here.

so sick of the big box retailers? me too. so when we took the kids to the red balloon bookshop in st.paul last weekend it felt wonderfully refreshing - the largest children's books selection in the state all in the coziest friendliest family run atmosphere. check it out here.

my friend allissa hipped me to matinee movie magic - first-run films in a baby-friendly environment, and without fear of disturbing fellow moviegoers. Moms and dads can now sit back, relax, and enjoy the show instead of waiting for movies to come out on DVD. This program is available for selected showtimes and features on Tuesdays. Learn more here..

people of Minneapolis do you realize how lucky you are to have “the current” as your backyard radio station? and how lucky we are to have them as the official sponsor of baby loves disco? At the disco make sure to check out their booth, get some cool stuff and say hello. At home (or on the web) tune in 24 seven right here.

the worst part about my last trip to Minneapolis? Getting stuck at the airport during a 8 hour delay. The best part about my last trip to Minneapolis? Finding the creative kidstuff store in the airport! Creative, innovative playthings, plus the nicest people in the world. Check them out.

you spent months getting ready for baby – child-proofed the house, figured out the car seat, went to birthing classes……but did you forget to take an infant/child cpr class? it’s not too late. Easy, convenient. important. Click here to check out the Minneapolis red cross class offerings.

research clearly proves the wealth of positive effects a pet has on a child. If you’re thinking about bringing one into your home, please support the not-for-profit animal human society of Minneapolis, offering pet adoption and more. Even if you can’t take an animal in you can provide donations, support and even volunteer. Check it out.
