good people of north bay, the baby loves disco flag flies at half mast as we have to postpone all future disco dates due to these touch economic times which have cast a long shadow on many of our good friends here.  we have to give tthanx and praise to the last day salon who was welcoming and accommodating and (always) give the most biggest shout's out to jess & gabe  who really started the whole thing and made it happen.....and we'll always remember YOU and (and have the pix to prove it).    in the meantime you can always head south to san fran where ruby skye is second to none.

until we come back again (soon!) we leave you with this easy to do BLD home kit: (i) click here and download a  podcast of baby loves disco live in nyc; (ii) click here  to make your own egg shakers; (iii) click here  for some ideas on healthy snacks;  (iv) get dad to brush up on his  mc skills; and (v) tell mom to get down with dj roc raida for some beat juggling trips, sprinkle with imagination (and more!) and we'll see you on the dance floor.

alright, check this everybody… it’s time for somethin’ new, whatcha gonna do? get up and move with the alphabet rockers’ fabulous and fun album featuring education-minded kid-friendly raps. good for the car, home, or classroom! the album rings the school bell for kids 3-7 years old as they dance and learn with this self-titled creatively crafted educational hip hop album. the music provides all ‘teachers’ of young children the skills to perform in and out of the classroom. my two year old son and i love to sing along with the catchy hooks and beats everyday. we get up together in the morning with the sun, boogie down and count the days of the week, rap about shapes, whether the weather, look at all the colors of the rainbow, count and trade the money in our pockets and then clean—it up! good morning everybody… time for school! learn more here.

come take a musical train ride as we venture through the wonderful sounds of award-winning pop kid’s musician justin roberts! follow along as we twist the song titles into this review of the groovy album, “pop fly”, a family favorite album of 2008. super moms, ‘stay-at-home dads’, 'backyard super-kids', and ‘student crossing guards’, ‘get your permission signed’ and we’ll ‘take a big field trip' on a yellow school bus through ‘henrietta’s hair… enter if you dare’! rest assured, justin roberts will ease your 'giant-sized butterflies' and you’ll be ready to ‘save the world’ and enjoy tons of fun with the entire family with these great sing-a-long songs! little ones will love the kindie-rock tunes as justin roberts sends positive messages for those first-day-of-school jitters and insecurities on the little league field. a perfect album, ‘made from scratch’ for the ‘babysitter who just sits’ or that holiday road trip to good ‘old-fashioned grandma’ and grandpa's house!  got it… yes!

we're celebrated the last chance to dance of 2008 with a very special party in baby loves discoland - our 1st annual dance for a cause. that's right, as the dance floor heated up in december, we shared that warmth by raising awareness and funds for a local non-profit, or as they call it, for-love-it, dream one world. this local charity has a mission is to help to change the world together. the charity exists to give shelter, education, and peace to people, places, and animals that cannot find help anywhere else. bldnb donation will help 18-month-old baby girl, errah, who suffers from larsen’s syndrome and cannot walk, get the needed surgery to be able to walk and dance. every little bit counts!

Psst...want the latest local parenting scoop (a nail salon with free child care, the best kid-friendly coffee shops, super sales on designer baby clothes)? everyone love to see kids smiling, even more when they have a cool face painted design on their cute little cheeks by fairy dust faces! fairy dust faces is a new, mommy-run face painting service available to add some sparkle to your next party. the mommies of fdf, are professional and do great work! and guess what, with fdf, you will be smiling big because they use only cosmetic-grade water-based paints manufactured by industry professionals. their paints are specifically designed to be used for face painting, so no face irritating paints will be applied to your baby’s adorable face… phew! check out their amazing work here or at the next baby loves disco event.  smile big!

hey ladies… have you heard what the latest, greatest home party craze is? spa parties!  move over candles, and make room for creams, scrubs, soaps, and lotions. i recently attended a ‘beauticontrol’ party after work on a friday, which happened to be a superb way to unwind with friends after a long week full of “kid-in’ around”.  jennifer, the director, took us through a relaxation journey that started with the feet and end with a nice facial treat. she explained products and techniques that help with skin maintenance, repair, and prevention. all the girls had a good time and left shiny faced and feelin’ fine. at the next disco, relax for a few with jennifer, she’ll be hosting our ‘mommy lounge’ with skin care tips and treats. be beautiful and be in control with beauticontrol products and parties.

new social network for parents that we wholeheartedly endorse - momslikeme is a great resource and networking opportunity for momslike you! stop by and check it out here - make some noise, pass it on, and be amongst the founding mommas in your community.

hey north bay discoers! we enjoyed a super launch event at the last day saloon on october 4th! peep the groovy gallery of pictures by photographer, nina.

strolling through downtown sebastopol, you can’t miss the fabulous store front window of the adorable mommy owed and operated, classic children’s apparel store. the children’s boutique formally known as new to you boutique, has been updated with lots of new stylish clothes, books, and games. the newer items are placed in the front of the store, but don’t forget to wonder to the back and peek at the slightly used clothing sized newborn-5T. good deals, good stuff, great store!

doran regional beach has been a family hang out spot for years! weeks after our son was born, we plopped him into a backpack and walked for hours on the beautiful california coastline. it’s a child friendly beach where the waves crash softly onto the shore and kites zoom through the air. There are also lost of great campsites! nestle in with the fam next to a cozy fire and sleep easy with the sweet songs of the majestic pacific ocean. good night!

lookin’ for a java jolt? buzz on through to our favorite family-friendly coffee spots- hardcore espresso in sebastopol or roasters in sebastopol and forestville. grab a cup of roaster’s sunshine espresso and a freshly sun-baked cookie and be on your way.  if you’re looking to hang with baby while you get your buzz on with some of northern california’s strongest espresso, stop by the “oasis by the highway,” hard core espresso! they’ve got free wi-fi, good convo, and a kiddie play area stocked with toys galore!

jessica was raised in sebastopol, and was mostly known for her skills on the basketball court. after many years of teaching, coaching, and producing events in the south bay, she has returned to her hometown with her husband (a local musician and promoter), and toddler son. jessica currently teaches elementary school in sebastopol, and enjoys her days laughing, reading, dancing, and playing with her amazing little boy.

find all kinds of goodies for baby at this huge family owned baby wonderland! got questions about baby products or maybe you just wanna try out the product before you buy it?…. Well, baby warehouse in petaluma is where it’s at!  A very friendly and knowledgeable staff makes this place on of my favorite spots for all types of baby gear!

sebastopol’s best-kept baby secret has got to be the baby booths at sebastopol cinemas!  imagine getting to watch an entire movie in a movie theater with your baby in tow! ignore those grumpy moviegoers shooting dirty looks when you walk up with your baby carrier to purchase tickets to watch the new, must-see release. smile as you walk upstairs to a private booth, spread out your baby goods, and munch on your tub of popcorn. all you need to do is call 829-3921 in the morning check to see what’s playing and reserve the booth. it’s a great idea for a rainy or hot day playdate with a couple of mommy/daddy friends. see you and baby at the movies!

just have to give a shout out to ives park in sebastopol. as a kid i spent many a summer’s day at this darling park, and now i enjoy all over again with our son. the park’s known by the local mommy/daddy circuit as “the cleanest sandbox in town.” our son loves to linger in the sand box for hours, sharing toys with all the little boys and girls. then he’ll waddle over to the pond to holler at the ducks and geese. he climbs trees, checks out the pool, then rolls around the grassy slopes. the playground for the smaller set is gated, pretty well shaded, and well attended. meetchya in the sandbox!

“no parking baby- no parking on the dance floor!” a line from a famous dance song, and also the mantra at our new venue for baby loves disco, the legendary last day saloon in santa rosa. you and your babe can’t help but move and groove to the disco beat under the disco ball on the large dance floor at the last day! this nightclub (dayclub for bld) is the hottest venue in town and showcases live music, comedy, and dj acts from soco, the bay area, and beyond. come put the boogie in your babies shoes at bld at the last day!

mmmm… cookies! grab a cookie on the run with a steamy cup of tea or coffee, and keep stepping with baby down the strip in downtown sebtown.  sebastopol’s business of the year 2007, sebastopol cookie company has street side quick service walk up window that is a godsend when you’ve got your bob, mclaren or graco stroller in tow. the cookies we can’t keep out hands off of are the backpacker, ginger and of course chocolate chip!

muy buena comida mexicana! ochoas’s serves up large quantities of very good food at a reasonable price! exactly what you would want from any restaurant. make that piles of carne asada, plates of tacos, and copious quesadillas, and you’ve got the perfect quick meal for a hungry, health-minded family. our favorites: carne asada plate, vegetarian super burrito (they offer lard free, whole beans), pastor taco, and quesadilla suiza! check’ em out in sebastopol, across from mcdonald’s in the southpoint plaza. !!! viva ochoa's!!!

fresh organic veggies, local products, sunny days and good folks bless these weekly celebrations of all that is good in downtown all around sonoma county. stroll with baby, and browse the bounty of wine county, while enjoying the great company.

a good old-fashioned neighborhood music storewith a compact but diverse selection of musical instruments. a very pleasant and highly knowledgeable staff, and a great selection of children’s instruments make this a great place to introduce baby to the wonderful world of music!
