Photographer JJ Tizou put together a proposal to create a dance-themed public art installation for the newly renovated SEPTA station at 46th and Market in conjunction with sculptor James Peniston. They've been selected as one of the five finalists. I'm really excited about this, having worked with JJ in the past and I love his work, ideas and concerns! The project will involve a large scale photographic survey of the Philadelphia dance community, inviting every dancer in town to show us how they move. They're holding two preliminary photo shoots in April as tests, and looking for dancers who'd be interested in participating. Please send dancers to www.howphillymoves.org and ask them to send an email to info@howphillymoves.org if interested in participating. |

Go Green ok, so it’s not philly, but the camden children’s garden is worth a ride over the ben franklin. sure, there’s educational stuff…the grow lab is ecology 101 for the toddler set…but there’s also a spray garden, a dinosaur dig & a carousel stocked with every creature your little one can imagine (“daddy, I rode a dragon today!”) and when the weather’s nice, take a walk out the back gate & picnic in the grass by the river. this place may stand in the shade of the adventure aquarium, but it will never be overshadowed! |
