  1. Instantly a classic, Daft Punk’s “One More Time” is one of the best modern dance hits out there.  The duo is credited as playing an integral role in developing the French House music scene.  But, they also enjoyed mainstream success with synth pop tracks like this one.  Featuring the famous vocoder line, horn sample, and pumping drums, this is one of the best “feel-good” tracks ever made.

  2. Meet Walter Gibbons, the pioneering DJ of the disco sound in the 1970’s New York club scene. Out shined by the emergence of Hip Hop and their similar DJ techniques, Gibbons was still considered a DJ’s DJ by developing extraordinary mixing capabilities.  Recently, one of his mixes, “Jungle Music”, was re-released to tribute him as one of the most important names in dance music.  Check out this selection — “You Are My Love” by Sandy Mercer — a cut that’s exemplary of that 70’s disco sound.

  3. Stones Throw all-star, Dam-Funk, has been burnin up the music scene as of late — winning over the hearts of indie-rock lovers and hip-hop heads and everyone else in between.  With his addictive soulful funk that sounds like he straight from the 80’s, this guy is the real deal (with vocoders and all).  Check this slow jam “On & On” off his album Toeachizown.  It’s one delicious blend of smooth, cheesy funk.

  4. Slated by James Murphy as his last album as LCD Soundsystem, “This Is Happening” lives up to the hype and is deserving of being the closing chapter to the alternative/indie dance legacy.  Check out this single “I Can Change”.  A bubbly, upbeat track that’s sure to get you going in the morning and de-stress you at the end of the day.

  5. Now” is the lead single off of the most recent album from BLD’s own King Britt.  Featuring the soothing voice of Astrid Syryanto, get lost in the pulsating and spacey vibe from one of the most respected names in house and dance music.  The full album, “The Intricate Beauty”, is available now on Nervous/FiveSix and is reportedly King Britt’s last conventional dance album before he ventures into the experimental/electronic music realm.

  6. After 7 years as the rulers of the playground underground, we take our award winning pre-school dance party out of the nightclubs and into boom boxes  worldwide with the first official soundtrack to the internationally acclaimed children’s event.    10 original songs created and crafted by legendary artist, producer and Dj King Britt with an A-list of special-guests including Martin Luther, DJ Statik, Capital A, Lady Alma & The Baby Loves Disco Choir.  Here they all combine to redefine We Are Family for the new Millennium.   Don’t be surprised if you catch Mom & Dad listening (and dancing) long after the kids have gone to bed.

  7. Produced by grammy winning producer aaron “ace” levinson (2006 best Salsa recording for the Spanish Harlem Orchestra) Baby Loves Salsa features some of the biggest and brightest stars in contemporary salsa music including band leader and singer Jose Conde (link). This track gets kids playing a combination freeze-dance and Salsa — make sure to listen all the way through.

  8. by now Sharon Jones (link) is a household name, but before she rose to the top of the charts she was with Baby Loves Jazz singing the part of Ms. Ella Elephant. Here she shines singing Old Mcdonald like you never heard it before accompanied by some of the greatest living jazz players around including John Ellis (horns); Aaron Goldberg (keys); Omer Avital (bass) and Ali Jackson (drums)

  9. from the dino-5 (baby loves hip hop) comes this classic track featuring Charlie Tuna (Jurassic 5) as MC Trex; Prince Paul (De La Soul) as Dj Stegosaurus; Lady Bug (Digable Planets) as Tracy Triceratops; and more.  What about 10 harkens back to the days of classic hip-hop meeting the old school kids show “The Electric Company”.  This entire album was voted #1 kids recording of 2008 by Urb Magazine.
