Meet Wal­ter Gib­bons, the pio­neer­ing DJ of the disco sound in the 1970’s New York club scene. Out shined by the emer­gence of Hip Hop and their sim­i­lar DJ tech­niques, Gib­bons was still con­sid­ered a DJ’s DJ by devel­op­ing extra­or­di­nary mix­ing capa­bil­i­ties.  Recently, one of his mixes, “Jun­gle Music”, was re-released to trib­ute him as one of the most impor­tant names in dance music.  Check out this selec­tion — “You Are My Love” by Sandy Mer­cer — a cut that’s exem­plary of that 70’s disco sound.
